Staff Machine Learning and Bioinformatics Scientist, Multi-Cancer Early Detection

About the role

Help design the models behind blood tests that screen for multiple cancers at once. You will work with large multimodal genomic data from clinical cohorts and move new methods toward clinical validation.

What you will do

• Lead work on new statistical and machine learning approaches for spotting cancer signals in multimodal genomic data
• Build models that are interpretable and well calibrated, setting group standards for uncertainty and reproducibility
• Prototype, evaluate and put machine learning models into production on scalable infrastructure
• Own important technical deliverables and help shape the research roadmap
• Team up with molecular biologists and clinical experts on experiment design and validation studies
• Review code and designs across projects to keep quality high

What they look for

• PhD in computer science, mathematics, bioinformatics or another quantitative field plus six to twelve years of postdoctoral experience
• Practical experience creating new statistical or machine learning methods for complex biological data
• Demonstrated innovation and technical leadership on complex method development
• Deep expertise in deep learning and multimodal foundation models
• Strong Python and scientific computing skills
• Scientific rigour across research and development, with willingness to teach and learn new methods and biology

Nice to have

• Familiarity with DNA methylation and other epigenomic data
• Background in cancer genomics and diagnostics
• Practical work with multimodal foundation models on biological data
