Actuarial Analyst II

About the role

The team works on the money side of senior health plans: what care costs, what to charge and how risk scores move results. Analysts own defined pieces of that work and explain the numbers to people outside actuarial.

At a glance

What you will do

• Build and maintain models and reports for pricing, forecasting, reserves and risk adjustment
• Study claims, membership, risk scores and provider performance to find trends and risks
• Prepare parts of Medicare Advantage bid submissions and supporting exhibits
• Run monthly and quarterly reserve and performance analyses, reconcile data and explain variances
• Present assumptions and results to actuarial leaders and partners in finance, product and network teams

What they look for

• Two to four years in actuarial work, healthcare analytics, insurance or financial modeling
• Comfort with large datasets, reporting tools and validating your own outputs
• Able to organise analyses alone and explain results to nontechnical colleagues
• Degree in actuarial science, maths, statistics, finance, economics or a similar quantitative field

Nice to have

• Progress on actuarial exams through a development program

A typical week

• Crunching claims and membership data to track financial trends
• Reviewing model outputs and chasing down odd variances
• Meeting finance and product partners to walk through findings
• Working through exam study alongside assigned analyses
