  • Set the handling plan for each claim, covering coverage, liability and how it should be resolved
  • Keep reserves in line with company policy
  • Run litigation with defense counsel and experts, including strategy on defending cases
  • Write coverage letters on complex matters, with coverage counsel when needed
  • Negotiate settlements and attend mediations, arbitrations and trials where appropriate
  • File large loss reports, reinsurance notices and trial alerts
