About the role

A part-time contract writing role producing historical and contextual content for a genealogy platform, with a focus on Australian records and family history research.

What you will do

• Work with an editor and program manager to shape and finish each writing assignment
• Carry out detailed historical research to underpin every piece
• Produce record descriptions, personalised stories drawn from historical records, and blog articles
• Keep tone, quality and style consistent with departmental guidelines and goals

What they look for

• Hands-on experience researching and writing about Australian genealogy
• Deep knowledge of Australian history, historical records and how to access them
• Understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander history and records
• Ability to write culturally sensitive and accurate collection descriptions
