Director of Security Engineering

About the role

A technical leader directs the security engineering function, reporting to the CISO and standing in for them when needed. The role builds teams and runs major security programs across commercial and federal cloud environments.

What you will do

• Act as deputy to the CISO, representing security to executives, customers and regulators
• Coach and grow managers and senior engineers in security engineering and operations
• Own the roadmap covering cloud security architecture, detection and response, identity and vulnerability management
• Run cross-functional programs with engineering, IT and product, including AI security governance and federal compliance
• Set engineering standards for the security organization and build hiring pipelines
• Explain technical risk in business terms to leadership and the board

What they look for

• Ten or more years in security or software engineering, with at least four managing security teams
• Experience leading managers of managers
• A software engineering background with hands-on code and architecture review
• A record of building security teams from scratch
• Ability to operate autonomously at a senior level
