Environmental Health Officer, Property Licensing

About the role

A temporary fully remote role processing property licence applications and related casework for a private sector housing enforcement and licensing service.

What you will do

• Process mandatory HMO, additional and selective licensing applications
• Validate submissions and review floor plans, safety certificates, room sizes and occupancy levels
• Carry out fit and proper person assessments and prepare draft licences and conditions
• Handle renewals, variations and draft regulatory correspondence
• Manage a licensing caseload and keep case management systems and electronic records accurate
• Answer landlords, agents and tenants, and refer complex cases for investigation

What they look for

• Experience in regulatory, housing or local government casework or application processing
• Familiarity with computerised case management systems and accurate record keeping
• Strong written and verbal communication and good organizational skills
• Ability to manage deadlines, competing priorities and attention to detail
• Ability to interpret policies and work independently from home
• Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel

Nice to have

• HMO, additional and selective licensing experience
• Knowledge of the Housing Act 2004 and private sector housing
• MetaStreet and property licensing legislation
• Draft licence preparation, regulatory determinations and statutory correspondence
