About the role

A writer role focused on the economic and policy effects of AI, producing research reports, essays, op-eds and briefs while helping researchers present findings clearly to varied audiences.

What you will do

• Co-write and edit economic research publications with in-house economists and researchers
• Produce readable, rigorous pieces on AI economics and policy in formats such as reports, essays, op-eds and briefs
• Work with researchers, policy staff, scientists and outside experts to turn complex findings into public content
• Help choose which economic and policy questions the organisation studies next

What they look for

• A published body of long-form writing on economics, policy or technology
• Quantitative literacy, including the ability to read and explain an economics working paper
• Familiarity with how ideas spread on social platforms and what makes arguments gain traction
• Experience working closely with experts on their material, earning trust and sharpening their arguments
• Comfort taking part in policy debates with rigor and nuance

Nice to have

• Professional experience in economic research or analysis, or editing data-heavy publications
• Experience with policymaking institutions and an understanding of how Washington works
• Direct experience with AI or technology policy
• A record of shaping policy debates through writing and public engagement
