Network Administrator

About the role

A remote role maintaining and improving an organisation's network infrastructure, keeping connectivity secure and dependable while handling technical problems and daily IT support.

What you will do

• Set up, watch over and look after routers, switches, firewalls and wireless access points
• Track network availability and performance, then fix outages, latency and connectivity faults
• Run LAN, WAN, VPN and wireless networks, including access controls and authentication
• Apply security measures, firmware upgrades, configuration changes and patches
• Keep records of configurations, IP addressing, infrastructure changes and troubleshooting steps
• Carry out maintenance, backups and recovery checks, and help with continuity planning

What they look for

• Degree in IT, computer science, network engineering or similar, or equivalent hands-on experience
• Two to five years in network administration, support or infrastructure management
• Knowledge of VPNs, remote access and network monitoring tools, plus security and access control basics
• Windows or Linux experience, strong problem solving and clear technical documentation

Nice to have

• CCNA, CompTIA Network+ or a comparable networking certification
• Enterprise firewall, network access control and secure remote connectivity experience
• Familiarity with monitoring and diagnostic tools
• Cloud networking knowledge, plus automation or scripting in Python or PowerShell
