Reviews medical records and assigns accurate diagnosis and procedure codes for outpatient surgery and observation cases, working remotely with a flexible schedule.
What you will do
- Sequence codes correctly based on documented medical record information
- Assign the appropriate discharge disposition
- Abstract and enter coded data for hospital statistics and reporting
- Flag documentation improvement opportunities and coding issues for follow up
- Maintain high coding and APC accuracy rates and meet productivity standards
What they look for
- AHIMA credentials such as RHIA, RHIT or CCS, or AAPC certification
- Three or more years of outpatient surgery and observation coding experience
- Interventional radiology experience
- Experience with EPIC and 3M or Solventum tools
- Ability to validate CPT codes for precertification of same-day surgical procedures
- Strong attention to detail and depth of knowledge in medical terminology
Nice to have
- CIRCC or RCCIR credential
- Prior precertification review and CPT validation for prior authorization
- Observation time carve outs experience
