Principal Software Architect, Data Platform

About the role

Serve as senior technical authority for a cloud data platform built on Azure and Databricks. Bring software architecture discipline to pipelines and services and lay foundations for AI-driven capabilities.

What you will do

• Apply software architecture discipline such as design patterns, modularity, repo structure and system design
• Assess engineering practices across the organisation and re-envision architectural patterns
• Own the technology roadmap and recommend emerging tools and techniques to evaluate or adopt
• Act as technical escalation point on design, branching strategy, CI/CD, performance, scalability and cost

What they look for

• Professional software architecture experience with system structure, design patterns and build-versus-buy decisions
• Hands-on software engineering background with services and pipelines managed in Git and code review
• Experience building cloud-native data platforms on Azure and Databricks
• Strength of recommendation rather than formal authority, with mentoring of senior and staff engineers
