Project Electrical Design Engineer

About the role

You will work directly with the founder and principal engineer on electrical design for renovation and new-build projects, covering power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, backup power and low-voltage systems. The role is fully remote.

What you will do

• Design power distribution, lighting and controls, fire alarm, life safety, emergency power and low-voltage systems
• Carry a basic design through to detailed engineering with minimal oversight
• Produce construction documents and specifications, answer RFIs and review submittals
• Manage remote contract drafting and modeling resources
• Coordinate with architects, contractors, utilities and authorities having jurisdiction
• Use company standards and checklists and improve them rather than work around them

What they look for

• Five to seven or more years of professional electrical engineering experience focused on building design
• Ability to work autonomously and explain technical decisions to non-engineers
• Self-directed and organized in a remote, fast-moving small-firm setting
• Current authorization to work full-time in the United States without sponsorship
