Senior Backend Engineer, Checkout and After Sales

About the role

Join a cross-functional purchase experience team that owns the checkout journey and post-purchase processes for customers around the world. The role focuses on refining the checkout funnel, payments, shipping and self-service features.

What you will do

• Collaborate across teams to improve the customer journey throughout the order lifecycle
• Add and tune local payment options for international markets
• Handle complicated shipping logic and logistics challenges
• Improve monitoring of critical applications so problems are caught early
• Build and maintain internal APIs and connect external ones across the wider ecosystem
• Own features that drive business results while reducing technical debt

What they look for

• At least four years of hands-on software engineering experience with strong PHP skills
• Familiarity with common PHP frameworks such as Symfony
• Understanding of object-oriented programming, design patterns and complex databases
• Experience navigating and improving large legacy codebases under business constraints
• Comfort with Git and Composer for code and dependency management
• Commitment to code quality through automated tests and constructive code reviews

Nice to have

• German language skills are a plus, with support offered to English speakers willing to learn
