Senior Cloud Database Administrator (MySQL, AWS RDS, Aurora)

About the role

A senior database role focused on running MySQL on AWS, moving operations toward automation and self service, and handling complex production incidents under pressure.

What you will do

• Run and tune MySQL and InnoDB on RDS and Aurora, covering setup, scaling, patching, upgrades and retirement
• Diagnose production problems such as slow queries, replication delay, locking, deadlocks and resource contention
• Improve speed through execution plan review, query and index tuning, and InnoDB settings
• Build and keep backup, restore, point in time recovery and disaster recovery processes meeting set targets
• Support availability with Aurora clusters, multiple zones, read replicas and automatic failover
• Automate routine database work and self service tooling with scripting and infrastructure as code

What they look for

• At least ten years in database administration, engineering or reliability work
• Deep practical MySQL knowledge including InnoDB internals such as transactions, locking, logs and crash recovery
• Hands on experience running MySQL on AWS RDS or Aurora
• Proven ability in performance tuning, query optimization and troubleshooting
• Experience with backups, restores, disaster recovery and high availability setups
• Scripting and automation skills in Python, Bash, SQL or AWS CLI, plus AWS security knowledge

• Kubernetes or EKS, CI/CD, regulated settings, cost optimization or self service platforms
