Senior Full-stack Software Engineer (Java, Quarkus, Angular)

About the role

Join a team building distributed, cloud-native systems for a major financial institution. The role spans backend Java services, Quarkus microservices and Angular frontends, with a strong emphasis on reliability and observability.

What you will do

• Create and improve Java backend services that stay fast, scalable and easy to maintain
• Build cloud-native microservices with Quarkus and contribute to their architecture
• Develop Angular frontend features and work across the full application stack
• Implement event-driven flows with AWS services including SQS, SNS, Lambda, DynamoDB and API Gateway
• Set up logging, metrics and distributed tracing to strengthen observability
• Take part in architecture debates, code reviews and quality initiatives within an Agile team

What they look for

• Solid software engineering background centred on backend development
• Hands-on record of shipping production Java applications
• Practical experience with Quarkus and Angular
• Mandatory AWS experience with SQS, SNS, DynamoDB, Lambda and API Gateway
• Experience designing microservices and distributed systems, including event-driven patterns
• Comfortable in Agile or Scrum settings and using AI coding assistants such as Cursor or copilots

Nice to have

• Reactive programming experience, for example Mutiny or Project Reactor
• Background in financial markets, investment banking or financial systems
• Track record building highly scalable, resilient cloud applications
• Familiarity with AI-assisted software development practices
