Staff Software Engineer, Backend

About the role

Lead backend architecture and distributed systems work, set engineering standards and partner across product and infrastructure teams. The role delivers resilient, auto-scaling applications at production scale.

What you will do

• Solve novel, complex problems in areas that have not been tackled before
• Drive architectural alignment with cross-functional engineering teams
• Help define technical direction, best practices and long-term roadmaps
• Partner with product, design and infrastructure to scale applications and services
• Improve reliability with Operations and Infrastructure through monitoring and scaling

What they look for

• At least five years architecting and building reliable systems in complex distributed environments
• Advanced programming in Golang, Node.js or React, with strong object-oriented and functional design knowledge
• Proven end-to-end system design skills covering security, reliability and horizontal scaling
• Extensive practice with coding standards, code reviews, source control and automated testing across the SDLC
• Strong record in operational excellence and continuous deployment
• Experience running production-grade code at scale

Nice to have

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or solid grasp of CS fundamentals such as algorithms and design patterns
• Comfort working in a fast-paced environment
• Interest in next-generation artificial intelligence applications

USD 185,000 to 200,000 per year
