Staff Software Engineer, Backend (Identity Decisioning)

About the role

Own backend technical strategy for an identity decisioning team covering markets outside North America, shaping KYC and user lifecycle work across several regulatory environments.

What you will do

• Set the team's technical strategy over a year long horizon and connect it to business critical projects
• Partner with product, design and analytics across the development lifecycle to surface technical risks and trade offs
• Define technical solutions and operational processes that multiply the team's effectiveness
• Own service operations and availability, including monitoring, triage rotations, playbooks, testing and alerting
• Set code review and design standards and promote them beyond the team through writing and talks
• Mentor engineers through feedback and guidance while leading by example

What they look for

• Eight or more years designing, building and launching large scale backend systems in Python or Kotlin
• A strong record with highly available distributed systems using AWS, MySQL, Spark and Kubernetes
• Experience delivering major features or retiring old functionality through a clear technical and execution plan
• Comfort with ambiguity, from low level language details to large system architecture
• Proven ability to gather and act on feedback from engineering and cross functional peers
• Strong written and verbal communication for a global engineering team
