Staff Software Engineer, DevOps

About the role

Set the technical direction for cloud and on-premise infrastructure and help build much of it hands on. The role combines platform engineering with reliability ownership and on-call duty.

What you will do

• Design and build a Kubernetes platform spanning managed cloud clusters and self-hosted clusters
• Own reference architecture for provisioning, multi-cluster management, networking, identity, secrets, storage and upgrades
• Evolve a multi-account cloud environment with governance, access control, networking and DNS
• Establish on-call rotations, service level objectives, alerting, incident response and blameless reviews
• Build observability across metrics, logs, traces and synthetic checks
• Create self-service paths such as CI/CD templates, deployment patterns and reusable infrastructure libraries

What they look for

• Hands-on experience designing systems and then implementing them, including design documents and infrastructure as code
• Comfort with Python, Helm and cloud development tooling
• Experience owning reliability through service level objectives and failure analysis
• Ability to judge when workloads belong in the cloud versus on-premise
• Skill at explaining infrastructure trade-offs to non-specialists
• A preference for building paved roads over approving requests manually
