  • Underwrite new and renewal middle market GL accounts to hit profit, retention and growth targets
  • Assess operations, loss history, financials and coverage needs, then decide if a risk fits appetite
  • Build pricing, terms and coverage, using deductibles, SIRs and endorsements to get the right return
  • Negotiate with wholesalers through quotes, proposals, counteroffers and binding within authority
  • Keep files documented and handle endorsements, renewals and coordination with claims and loss control
  • Manage a set of wholesale broker relationships and market appetite clearly and consistently

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • Five or more years underwriting general liability, with success in E&S or non-admitted business
  • Experience with complex middle market accounts such as multi-state, multi-location or higher hazard risks
  • Solid grasp of GL forms, exclusions, endorsements and non-admitted market practice
  • Ability to analyze data and explain underwriting decisions clearly
  • Established relationships with individual wholesale brokerage offices
