Bookkeeper

About the role

A remote bookkeeping role covering a portfolio of client accounts plus some internal company work. The hire adds capacity as the client base expands and systems become more technology driven.

What you will do

• Keep assigned client books accurate and current, handling roughly five to ten accounts depending on complexity
• Run payables, receivables and payroll for clients and for internal operations
• Record transactions such as cash, inventory, revenue and expenses, and keep general ledgers complete
• Reconcile bank and ledger accounts, investigate differences, and handle invoicing, deposits and collections
• Process payroll on time, including tax calculations, and support month end with adjusting entries
• Deal directly with clients, vendors and banks, and suggest workflow and system improvements

What they look for

• At least two years of practical bookkeeping experience
• Solid grasp of accounting principles, debits, credits and general ledger work
• Hands on experience with payables, receivables, payroll, reconciliations and ledger upkeep
• Strong QuickBooks skills, with QuickBooks Online strongly preferred
• Ability to juggle several client accounts while staying accurate and organised
• Confident English communication and comfort speaking with clients directly

Nice to have

• Full cycle bookkeeping including month end close and adjusting entries
• Experience with both QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Desktop
• Familiarity with DEXT, with training available
• Canadian accounting standards, an accounting or finance degree, or a bookkeeping certification
