Business Development Specialist

About the role

A sales role generating new business and supporting marketing and promotional activity for commercial insurance products aimed at automotive industry clients. The position works alongside senior business development and commercial lines leaders.

What you will do

• Analyse existing customer accounts to find cross-sell and account rounding opportunities
• Work with the account management team to review in-force accounts and offer suitable additional coverage
• Generate new business leads from lost accounts, industry listings, networking and referrals
• Keep accurate records of sales activity, customer interactions and pipeline opportunities
• Manage a portfolio of lost accounts, diagnosing causes and developing win-back strategies

What they look for

• Proven capability in marketing related duties and familiarity with multiple rating platforms across national and regional carriers
• Excellent communication, presentation and negotiation skills
• Ability to obtain a state insurance license within the first 90 days, with coursework and exam fees covered

Nice to have

• Retail agency experience
• Commercial property and casualty insurance experience
