Clinical Reviewer RN, Ophthalmology and Ambulatory Surgery

About the role

A remote nursing role reviewing preoperative histories and patient records against approved criteria, flagging gaps or concerns for escalation before scheduled eye procedures.

What you will do

• Check preoperative histories and records for completeness, timeliness, signatures and required elements
• Confirm patient identity, planned procedure, allergies, medications and history for consistency
• Spot missing, outdated, unsigned, conflicting or unclear documentation
• Escalate findings that meet approved criteria to the clinical director, charge nurse, anesthesia staff or surgeon
• Record findings objectively in the approved workflow and keep an organized review queue
• Re-review charts when corrected or additional information arrives, tracking follow-up to completion

What they look for

• Current RN licensure with knowledge of preoperative assessment and common medical conditions
• Familiarity with ambulatory ophthalmic surgery, medications and documentation standards
• Ability to apply facility-approved review criteria and escalation pathways consistently
• Clear, objective written and verbal communication with clinicians and staff
• Strong organization and ability to meet turnaround expectations
• Commitment to patient privacy, ethics and professional conduct
