Controller (Remote, NetSuite)

About the role

Accounting here is a department of one reporting to the CFO, with room to grow into wider finance leadership as the company expands through acquisitions. Around 40 hours a week.

At a glance

What you will do

• Run the whole accounting function alone: general ledger, AP and AR, invoicing, collections, payroll accounting, bookkeeping and reconciliati
• Own the monthly and annual close, financial statements and reporting; the current close takes about five to seven business days
• Act as the in-house NetSuite accounting owner, covering daily use, troubleshooting, configuration, reporting and workflow fixes
• Keep GAAP accounting, deferred revenue and prepaids straight across annual subscriptions, milestone-based fixed-price work and time-and-mate
• Coordinate external auditors and keep schedules, controls and documentation clear
• Guide outsourced partners as acquired firms move onto NetSuite, setting requirements and checking their output

What they look for

• A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or a related field
• Roughly five to seven years of progressive accounting experience, with real personal ownership of the close
• Hands-on NetSuite skills, enough to run its accounting use without basic training
• Practical GAAP, reconciliation, deferred-revenue and Excel ability
• Willingness to do the daily accounting yourself while improving how it works
• Strong senior accountants who have carried much of a close are welcome; a controller title or final sign-off is not required

Nice to have

• CPA or public accounting background, software or services experience, ERP migration work and FP&An exposure all help
