Game Mathematician

About the role

Model and validate the mathematics behind slot games, from concept feasibility to certified payout tables. The role also checks live results against theory after launch.

What you will do

• Judge at concept stage whether a mechanic can reach target return to player, volatility and maximum win
• Build full models covering reel strips, symbol weights, paytables, wild and scatter rules, bonus triggers and feature expected value
• Solve for target return to player and produce variants such as 94, 96 and 98 percent for different jurisdictions
• Run Monte Carlo simulations over tens to hundreds of millions of spins to verify trigger distributions, payout spikes and maximum win reacha
• Confirm the engineering build matches the model and sign off before submission
• Write payout tables for independent test labs and keep designs within certification constraints

What they look for

• Degree in mathematics, statistics, actuarial science, computer science or physics
• Knowledge of combinatorics, probability, expected value, variance and confidence intervals
• Programming in Python, C++, C or Java for simulation
• Advanced Excel modelling used daily
• Experience writing payout tables that passed lab certification
• Ability to explain complex mathematics to non technical stakeholders

Nice to have

• Multi jurisdiction experience such as MGA, UKGC, Curaçao, PAGCOR or Ontario
• Knowledge of LDW disclosure requirements
• Mentoring experience
• Jackpot or progressive math experience
