Health Information Specialist I

About the role

An entry level role handling requests for medical records, making sure releases are timely, accurate and compliant with privacy rules while protecting patient confidentiality.

What you will do

• Process incoming and outgoing requests for patient health information according to company and facility rules
• Handle calls, walk in patients, mail, faxes and record copies to disc or flash drive
• Keep patient records confidential and release information only to authorized parties
• Assemble new patient charts, gather documents and create digital images for the electronic record
• Log details across several systems using two monitors and meet site productivity targets

What they look for

• Comfort with computers and technology
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel
• Ability to apply medical privacy regulations such as HIPAA
• Accuracy and efficiency when handling record requests

Nice to have

• Familiarity with HIPAA
• Knowledge of release of information processes
• Experience with Microsoft Office and Teams
