Senior Backend Engineer, Databases Tempo

About the role

Work on an open source distributed tracing backend behind a managed cloud tracing service. The position centers on scaling the platform and improving the customer experience.

What you will do

• Drive significant technical initiatives from problem framing to rollout
• Own major components across ingestion, storage, query and metrics generation
• Eliminate rough edges, confusing limits and hidden failure modes for customers
• Scale the service from dozens of cells to triple digits with autoscaling and parameterized rollouts
• Develop higher-density APIs and machine-friendly interfaces for downstream products
• Push performance with faster query latency and longer query ranges
