Senior Data Engineer

About the role

The team creates datasets for analytic and data science workloads and models the core data domain so different access patterns work well. Good work means pipelines that are fast, well documented and trusted by the analysts and scientists who use them.

At a glance

What you will do

• Design and tune data models and schemas for reporting, analytics and machine learning.
• Build ETL and ELT pipelines that ingest and transform large datasets from many sources.
• Tune performance with partitioning and clustering to speed queries and lower costs.
• Set data quality standards, governance rules and security policies for storage and access.
• Work with data scientists and analysts so data solutions plug into BI tools and ML models.
• Write documentation for pipelines and workflows, and mentor junior engineers.

What they look for

• Five or more years of relevant work experience.
• Strong SQL skills, including complex queries.
• Python experience, especially for ETL pipelines.
• Experience deploying pipelines on Azure, AWS or GCP.
• Knowledge of data governance practices in the cloud.
• Clear communication with data scientists, analysts and product owners.

Nice to have

• Machine learning flows on GCP.
• Healthcare data experience, with Tuva or OMOP models a plus.
