Senior Data Scientist (NLP & Applied AI)

About the role

Domain-specific content modeling is owned end to end here, from building the eval set to the pipeline stage that ships, with data scientists keeping their models running in production.

At a glance

What you will do

• Build NLP enrichment pipelines that pull entities, classifications, claims and summaries from full scientific texts at scale
• Test classical NLP, embeddings, LLM prompting and fine-tuned small models side by side, then defend each pick on quality, cost and operation
• Own evaluation: build golden sets with subject experts and vendors, choose metrics, and balance speed against quality and cost
• Help shape tool-using agent systems that reason over the enriched corpus and ground their answers

What they look for

• Strong NLP background spanning LLMs, transformers, embeddings and retrieval as well as NER, classification and sequence labeling
• Clean Python across exploratory notebooks and production repositories
• Grace under drifting model performance and shifting stakeholder feedback

Nice to have

• Experience with scientific or scholarly text
• AWS (S3, Batch, Lambda, SageMaker) plus Parquet or Iceberg data lake patterns
