Senior Mechanical Design Engineer (SolidWorks Specialist)

About the role

Turn concepts, site data and engineering requirements into practical, buildable mechanical and structural designs for heavy industrial clients. The role is remote, based in the Philippines, and follows Australian working hours and holidays.

What you will do

• Develop complete 3D models and equipment layouts from sketches, site data and concepts
• Design large assemblies, weldments, frames, sheet metal parts and pipework integrations
• Produce fabrication drawing packages, general arrangements, bills of materials and cut lists
• Apply tolerances and revision control to all manufacturing documentation
• Design for heavy loads, vibration, fatigue, corrosion, dust, water and maintainability
• Create support frames, mountings, platforms, skids, guards and structural modifications

What they look for

• Five to ten or more years of mechanical design work in heavy industry
• Expert SolidWorks skills, including parametric modeling, design tables, weldments and large assemblies
• Bachelor's degree in mechanical or structural engineering or a similar field
• Practical grasp of how steel structures and heavy equipment are fabricated and installed
• Strong written and spoken English for work with international teams

Nice to have

• Experience with SolidWorks Simulation for structural analysis
• Knowledge of Australian Standards or work with Australian engineering firms
• Background designing plant and equipment
