What you will do

• Evaluate complex new and renewal non-admitted accounts using loss history, financials, controls and inspection findings
• Set pricing, coverage, terms, limits and deductibles within delegated authority
• Handle referrals for defined risks and escalate anything outside appetite with a written case
• Lead remediation on accounts where results or controls raise concerns
• Keep renewals, notices and disclosures accurate and compliant

What they look for

• Advanced judgment in selecting and structuring non-admitted commercial risk
• Comfort working with significant individual authority
• Skill at negotiating with distribution partners and explaining risk decisions
• Ability to read portfolio data and spot trends, gaps and concentrations
• Experience mentoring less experienced underwriters

Nice to have

• Familiarity with appetite and guideline changes based on market results

A typical week

• Review account data and make underwriting decisions on new and renewal submissions
• Talk with agency partners about renewals, pipeline and problem accounts
• Work with claims, risk control, actuarial and compliance colleagues on specific risks
• Track portfolio results and adjust strategy or appetite recommendations
