Senior or Lead Bioinformatics Scientist, Multi-Cancer Early Detection

About the role

Join a research team creating blood tests that screen for several cancers at once. You will build the computational methods that carry new approaches from early prototypes to clinical validation.

What you will do

• Create and verify algorithms that analyse large multimodal epigenomic data
• Carry research analyses from coding and testing to performance assessment, adding features to current pipelines
• Handle sequencing and clinical data from big cohorts, safeguarding integrity and running quality checks
• Work with molecular biologists and clinical scientists on difficult open questions
• Present findings visually to specialist and lay audiences alike
• Help set team standards for reproducible, high quality code

What they look for

• PhD in bioinformatics, computer science, biology or similar, or a bachelor's or master's plus four years of professional work
• Proven record of building and validating workflows that analyse high-throughput sequencing data
• Experience applying and assessing statistical and machine learning techniques on large datasets
• Solid quantitative and analytical ability applied to genuine scientific problems
• Software engineering background with strong Python and its scientific libraries
• Comfort with Linux command line tools and cloud platforms

Nice to have

• Knowledge of DNA methylation and related epigenomic data
• Work with cell-free DNA and liquid biopsy specimens
• Background in cancer genomics or diagnostics
• Handling data and metadata from large clinical cohorts
