Senior Site Reliability Engineer, Observability

About the role

Own monitoring, observability, alerting and on-call standards for a small remote engineering team that runs its own SaaS platform end to end. The aim is to replace inherited practices with deliberate, well governed telemetry.

What you will do

• Set the observability strategy, target architecture and standards, covering what is instrumented, where data lands, retention and cost
• Design Grafana dashboards and alerts around services and customer journeys rather than available metrics
• Define service level objectives and error budgets that engineering and product use in decisions
• Make every alert actionable and owned, with runbooks, so on-call stays quiet when nothing is wrong
• Lead the replacement of the on-call tooling with a modern incident response platform integrated with Microsoft Teams
• Shape the on-call model, including rota, escalation and post incident review

What they look for

• Experience owning observability, monitoring and alerting for production services
• Familiarity with Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Application Insights and Grafana
• Ability to set standards and policy that other engineers adopt
• Comfort working in a small, fully remote team with broad ownership
• A clear view of good observability practice on Kubernetes, Prometheus and OpenTelemetry

Pay

GBP 80,000 to 95,000 per year
