Staff Software Engineer, Services Platform

About the role

Act as technical owner of the services platform that product teams use to build, deploy and run independent services. Define a paved road for service infrastructure across a large engineering organisation.

What you will do

• Design and build the platform engineers use to deploy and operate services
• Set strategy for service identity, authentication, discovery and communication
• Work with release engineering on safe rollout, rollback, secrets and configuration defaults
• Evolve the service runtime architecture, including Kubernetes use, while keeping services healthy
• Make observability self-service so product engineers can debug their own systems
• Partner with security and product teams on compliant, adoptable infrastructure

What they look for

• Deep production experience operating Kubernetes
• Strong instincts for deployment architecture, failure modes and migrations
• Experience designing service-to-service authentication, workload identity, discovery or service mesh
• Strong platform design opinions paired with sound judgment
