Senior Staff Mechanical Engineer

About the role

A senior technical leadership role shaping the mechanical architecture of next generation 3D printing platforms, setting engineering standards and guiding staff level engineers.

What you will do

• Own the top level mechanical architecture of new printing platforms, balancing modularity, serviceability and precision
• Bridge systems, electrical, software and materials teams to reduce risk on early stage products
• Set company wide frameworks for validation, reliability testing and design for manufacturability
• Work with leadership and product management to turn product needs into a multi year technical strategy
• Spot and close architectural gaps that affect long term product performance
• Act as a decision maker in design reviews and root cause analysis for critical hardware failures

What they look for

• Twelve or more years developing mechanical or mechatronics products, including shipping complex systems from scratch to mass production
• A record of mentoring and raising the level of senior and staff engineers
• Deep expertise in thermodynamics, structural dynamics and precision motion control in tight tolerance settings
• Experience managing top tier manufacturing partners and directing pilot and production builds worldwide
• Ability to explain complex technical trade offs clearly to leadership with data driven recommendations
• Strong command of GD&T per ASME Y14.5, DFMEA and statistical process control for high volume hardware
