Software Engineer II, Backend (Card)

About the role

Work on the card checkout team within a direct to consumer organisation, building backend systems that support a smooth in-app checkout experience. The team partners with product, design and analytics.

What you will do

• Break larger projects into tasks, deliver them in phases and coordinate with others for timely completion
• Collaborate with product, design and analytics through ideation and technical trade-off decisions
• Support operations and availability by creating and monitoring metrics and handling escalations
• Take part in on-call rotation and keep the lights on efforts
• Contribute to team growth activities such as interviewing

What they look for

• Two or more years of experience as a software engineer
• Experience designing, developing and launching backend systems
• Proficiency in Python or Kotlin
• Familiarity with distributed systems building blocks and technologies like AWS, MySQL and Kubernetes
• Ability to write clear, well tested, extensible code and navigate a large code base
• Strong verbal and written communication for global collaboration
