In one line

Client-facing FPGA architect role at a design services firm, sizing and shaping hardware projects across communications, aerospace, medical, space and automotive work.

About the role

Solutions architecture here means judging whether an opportunity fits, then mapping a technical path, an estimate and the risks before a proposal goes out. Projects span several industries rather than one product line.

What you will do

  • Work with current and prospective clients to pin down their needs and turn them into requirements
  • Architect a solution that meets the client's needs and split large programs into logical parts
  • Plan the work, flag risks with mitigations and prepare estimates
  • Write the technical sections of proposals and defend the approach and estimate when challenged
  • Join project work when needed and help spot new products, investment areas and R&D directions

What they look for

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science or equivalent
  • Ideally seven or more years of design work in a senior FPGA designer role
  • System-level design experience, including weighing architectural options and tradeoffs
  • Expert RTL design in VHDL or SystemVerilog, from architecture through timing closure
  • Hands-on work with AMD or Altera families such as Versal, UltraScale+, Zynq, Agilex or Stratix and their toolchains
  • Experience architecting high-speed interfaces and subsystems such as PCIe, Ethernet, DDR controllers, JESD204 and AXI-based SoC integration
