Sponsored Research Finance Assessment Lead

About the role

Lead an assessment of how a university manages the finances of sponsored research. Turn findings into practical recommendations that improve oversight, administration and grant management.

What you will do

• Review compliance with Uniform Guidance and facilities and administrative cost recovery
• Examine the grants lifecycle from proposal budgeting through subrecipient monitoring and closeout
• Interview research administration, finance and departmental stakeholders
• Document workflows, spot control gaps and benchmark against peer institutions
• Present findings and an implementation roadmap to senior university leaders

What they look for

• At least seven years in sponsored research finance or research administration
• Two or more comparable assessments, audits or consulting engagements in the past five years
• Knowledge of the full grants lifecycle and federal cost principles
• Understanding of personnel expense documentation and F&A rate structures
• Experience presenting to chief financial officers and vice presidents for research
• Strong analytical, writing, interviewing and project leadership skills

Nice to have

• Consulting or advisory background
