Grants and Uniform Guidance Finance Consultant

About the role

A project-based consulting engagement focused on post-award research finance for universities, research institutes and public agencies managing federal awards. The consultant strengthens compliance, closes out awards and prepares for audits.

What you will do

• Review post-award financial processes for allowability, allocability and documentation under federal cost principles
• Assess effort reporting and certification, including cost sharing and salary charged to awards
• Reconcile project ledgers, cost transfers, drawdowns and sponsor financial reports
• Lead or assist award closeouts, including final reports, residual balances and subaward closeout
• Strengthen subrecipient monitoring, internal controls and written procedures before Single Audit review

What they look for

• Experience in post-award or sponsored-projects accounting at a university or research institution
• Working knowledge of 2 CFR 200, covering cost principles, effort reporting and indirect cost application
• Comfortable working as an independent project-based consultant, remote-first with some client travel

Nice to have

• CRA, CPA or a comparable certification
