Staff Data Engineer

About the role

A staff engineering role on a new platform team building next-generation data infrastructure, including large-scale pipelines and distributed systems that support AI, analytics and decision-making across the business.

What you will do

• Design, build and run large-scale batch and streaming pipelines using Spark, Java and Python
• Apply software engineering discipline such as clean architecture, automated testing, CI/CD and code review to data work
• Embed AI and generative capabilities into the platform, including vector search, LLM-assisted quality checks and agentic monitoring
• Set technical direction, mentor engineers and lead architecture and design reviews

What they look for

• At least eight years of professional software engineering with substantial hands-on data engineering at scale
• Strong proficiency in Java and Python, plus solid working knowledge of Spark for distributed processing
• Experience with the big data ecosystem, including Hadoop, Hive, Kafka and workflow orchestration such as Airflow
• A track record of operational excellence covering SLO and SLA ownership, incident management and blameless reviews

Nice to have

• Experience with Go, C++ or Scala
