What you will do
- Prepare and review individual income tax returns
- Find complex tax scenarios and edge cases, and probe ways the product could fail
- Check engine results against established professional tax software and flag mismatches
- Use tax preparation experience to inform the product roadmap and user experience
- Explain tax rules and expected outcomes directly to engineers
What they look for
- A CPA with a tax-focused career, or an experienced Enrolled Agent
- Six or more years preparing individual returns in professional tax software across several full tax seasons
- Experience reviewing returns, not only preparing them
- Solid knowledge of U.S. federal individual income tax
- An eye for product and user experience, able to give concrete UX feedback
- Comfort working in a small, early-stage startup
Nice to have
- Knowledge of U.S. federal tax law
- Skill at identifying edge cases
- Familiarity with Drake tax software
