About the role

Underwriting staff here work directly with agents and act as the go-to resource on crop coverage questions. Accuracy against federal and company rules is the measure of good work.

At a glance

What you will do

• Check policy details like coverage and rating to decide if an application fits the program or coverage chosen
• Answer brokers by phone and in writing within set timeframes, and act as an underwriting resource
• Verify or recheck policy rates using Risk Management Agency tools and internal quoting applications
• Prepare quotes for agents and handle questions from agents, policyholders and prospects
• Approve or deny within your authority, or send recommendations up the line
• Review cancellation and endorsement requests, and resolve uncleared federal crop insurance error items

What they look for

• At least two years of relevant professional experience that shows steady progression
• Background in agriculture or crop insurance is preferred
• Clear writing and speaking, with discretion, tact and diplomacy when handling confidential matters
