Associate Director, Creative

About the role

A freelance creative leadership role setting the visual direction for major client accounts and guiding a design team toward polished, strategically grounded work.

What you will do

• Direct the visual identity of brands and oversee art direction on pitches and flagship projects
• Coach junior and mid-level art directors and designers with detailed craft feedback
• Own the visual storytelling of multichannel campaigns across film, digital, social and physical media
• Supervise production visuals, including photographer and director selection, color grading, retouching and motion design
• Present design systems and art direction to clients, explaining the strategic reasoning behind visual choices
• Work with creative leaders to refine design processes, set quality benchmarks and adopt new tools

What they look for

• At least five years in art direction or design at an agency or fast-growing brand
• Experience leading small teams or supervising freelancers and junior creatives
• Advanced skills in Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, motion design or AI image generation
• Ability to tie visual decisions, from palette to casting, to client business goals
• Skill at explaining complex visual ideas to non-visual stakeholders
