AWS Data Engineer

About the role

Hands-on data engineering role focused on Python pipelines, advanced SQL and AWS storage and security. The position is remote and requires advanced English, with candidates based in Mexico.

What you will do

• Write reusable Python packages and automate ETL jobs and scheduling
• Orchestrate pipelines to run in sequence or in parallel and reprocess failed records
• Move data between formats such as CSV, JSON and XML, mainly via cloud storage
• Tune complex SQL queries for performance in a data warehouse
• Set up CI/CD and version control workflows from scratch
• Apply AWS storage and security practices, including IAM roles and encryption

What they look for

• Ten or more years of experience, fully hands-on with the listed skills
• Advanced Python, including classes, inheritance, threading and functional patterns
• Advanced SQL with complex joins, CTEs and subqueries
• Python unit, integration and system testing plus DBT data quality tests
• Experience with GitHub and building CI/CD pipelines
• In-depth knowledge of AWS S3, ECS and IAM security practices

Nice to have

• AWS Lambda for serverless data processing
• Apache Airflow on AWS for scheduling and monitoring complex flows
• API integrations with Salesforce, SFTP, SharePoint and OneDrive
• Complex DBT models, snapshots and custom macros using Jinja and Python
