Own the data and backend systems behind test delivery and learning platforms used by schools. The role is built around AI native development practices and close work with an SRE.

What you will do

• Design, build and maintain backend services and data systems for the products
• Create and support APIs and services on Google Cloud Platform
• Use AI coding tools daily and help shape how the team adopts them
• Build backend support for AI features such as LLM API integrations and data pipelines
• Work with the SRE on deployments, monitoring, incidents and infrastructure, and protect student data

What they look for

• Five or more years of professional backend development
• Solid record building and running production APIs and services
• Hands on with a major cloud platform; GCP plus Firebase and Firestore required
• Genuine enthusiasm for AI assisted development and tools like Claude Code, Cursor or Copilot
• Clear communication and comfort collaborating on infrastructure and reliability

Nice to have

• Education technology or assessment platform background
• Familiarity with WCAG accessibility requirements
• Data migration experience between environments
• Observability tooling and incident response experience
