Bilingual Crisis Helpline Responder

About the role

Responders give immediate, compassionate help to callers in distress or crisis, supporting their safety and connecting them to life-saving resources. The role is remote and part-time with flexible scheduling.

What you will do

• Handle crisis hotline calls with empathy and professionalism
• Carry out risk assessments and arrange emergency services or referrals
• Keep accurate and confidential call records
• Build tailored safety and crisis management plans
• Ensure smooth handovers between shifts

What they look for

• One to three years of helpline experience, paid or volunteer
• Proven ability to handle high-risk situations
• Emotional resilience and calm decisions under pressure
• Fluency in French and English

Nice to have

• Additional languages
• Background in mental health or emergency services
• Training in crisis intervention or suicide prevention
