Bilingual (French/English) Crisis Helpline Responder

About the role

Responders give immediate, compassionate help to people in distress or crisis over the phone. The role is remote and part-time with flexible shifts, connecting callers to safety and life-saving resources.

What you will do

• Handle crisis hotline calls with empathy and professionalism
• Carry out risk assessments and arrange emergency services or referrals
• Keep accurate and confidential call records
• Create tailored crisis management and safety plans
• Ensure smooth handovers between shifts

What they look for

• One to three years of helpline experience, paid or volunteer
• Proven ability to handle high-risk situations
• Emotional resilience and calm decision-making under pressure
• Fluency in French and English

Nice to have

• Additional languages
• Background in mental health or emergency services
• Training in crisis intervention or suicide prevention
