Claim Specialist, Commercial General Liability, Major Case Unit

About the role

Remote or hybrid setup with a caseload of primary and excess claims. Work covers contract analysis to sort out indemnity, contribution and risk transfer, plus managing defense counsel through trial and mediation.

What you will do

• Investigate claims, weigh the facts and decide what coverage applies, then put the position in writing for insureds and other parties.
• Set expense and indemnity reserves within your authority, watch them over time and adjust when needed.
• Take cases above your authority to management for reserve approval.
• Build resolution plans, run litigation and counsel, handle budgets and bill review, and attend trials and mediations.

What they look for

• At least five years on primary and excess policies and claims, including complex litigated commercial general liability work.
• A bachelor's degree; a law degree is a plus.
• Solid grasp of coverage terms, including manuscript policies, and of tort law and negotiation.
• Able to read contracts for indemnity and contribution questions and to handle high value bodily injury files.
