Communications Officer, Video and Social Media Content Producer

About the role

You will create video and social media content that turns technical research into material people want to watch and share, reporting to the head of communications and working with analysts and policy staff.

What you will do

• Plan the editorial calendar with the communications lead, draft posts and manage approval workflows
• Publish on priority channels, tailor content per audience and run occasional paid promotions within budget
• Produce YouTube explainers and social videos from concept and scripting through filming and editing
• Ensure clean audio, correct captions and suitable graphics, working with designers when required
• Reuse research, event and interview footage into shorter platform-ready pieces
• Track performance data and social trends to refine formats, titles and pacing

What they look for

• A social media video portfolio showing work from idea through filming, editing and publishing
• Sound editorial judgment on storytelling, pacing, thumbnails and titles
• Proficiency with Adobe Premiere Pro or similar, including audio work and captioning
• Confident on-camera interviewing and the ability to record usable location sound
• Strong English writing and the ability to explain technical subjects accurately
• Familiarity with social publishing, community management and basic analytics

Nice to have

• Experience making science, technology or policy explainers
• Knowledge of paid social promotion
• Hands-on use of Hootsuite, Meltwater or comparable scheduling and monitoring tools
• Additional languages and basic graphic design skills
