Director, Estate and Gift Planning

About the role

The planned giving team brings in nearly a quarter of the organisation's revenue, its single biggest source. The director manages a portfolio through every stage from first contact to stewardship, with most time spent meeting people in person.

What you will do

• Meet prospects, donors and professional advisors in person, by phone and sometimes online
• Grow a portfolio of qualified prospects through identification, cultivation, solicitation, execution and stewardship
• Track contacts and progress in Salesforce
• Work with philanthropy colleagues on blended gift proposals and new prospects

What they look for

• At least three years in nonprofit fundraising, or similar relationship building work
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
• Valid driver's license and a reliable vehicle, plus a reliable internet connection
• Sound judgment and discretion with confidential information
• Strong organisation and the ability to juggle several projects at once

Nice to have

• Planned giving experience
• Familiarity with Crescendo or Salesforce
• CAP or CFRE certification

A typical week

• Most of the week goes to in-person meetings with donors, prospects and financial or legal advisors
• Some time on the phone and video calls with the same groups
• Part of the week is spent updating Salesforce and moving prospects through the pipeline
• Occasional collaboration with philanthropy colleagues on blended gifts
• A small share of time keeping up with estate and gifting techniques, tax law and giving trends
