HR Associate

About the role

A people operations role in a small collaborative team, covering payroll, systems and compliance alongside onboarding and engagement work. The post provides UK-hours support for a globally distributed workforce.

What you will do

• Compile monthly UK and US payroll inputs, including time off and pension adjustments, and prepare reports for payroll providers
• Manage the full onboarding journey after offer acceptance, from welcome messages and equipment to system access and first-week check-ins
• Maintain accurate data in regional HR and payroll systems and run reports as needed
• Administer contractor clearance and contracts, escalating any inconsistencies
• Process expense reimbursements and coordinate closely with Finance
• Carry out routine compliance administration such as US state and city tax registrations and UK paperwork, and keep the handbook current

What they look for

• Two to three years of experience, ideally including HR, recruitment, payroll or comparable administration
• High precision and care when working with data
• Confidence with Excel or Google Sheets
• Good organisation and the ability to handle multiple deadlines
• Friendly, clear communication across all levels of seniority
• A genuine wish to pursue HR as a long-term career

Nice to have

• Payroll or accounting experience
• Hands-on use of HR or payroll platforms such as Deel, Gusto or Paychex
• Experience building tools or automating work with AI, especially Claude
