About the role

Principal engineering role on an architecture team building foundations for real-time processing of internet-scale data. The engineer sets technical standards and guides system design across cloud and on-prem systems.

What you will do

Design and build foundations for real-time internet-scale data processing
Create a platform for managing software and infrastructure across cloud and on-prem
Develop observability tooling for logging, metrics and alerting
Set technical standards and best practices as an engineering leader
Reconcile conflicting distributed architectures built over many years
Provide technical leadership across the organisation

What they look for

Seven or more years in software, hardware or systems engineering, or technical operations leadership
Experience designing and running large-scale orchestration systems
Familiarity with major internet protocols and standards such as DNS, Whois and RDAP
Background in internet security
Experience working across organisational boundaries to solve problems
Understanding of architectural trade-offs at very different scales
